Via Mare – A Filipino Food Classic

For over thirty years, Via Mare Oyster Bar has captured the heart and stomach of the Filipino family as it is known for being a luxurious seafood restaurant in the Philippines. And what most families, including ours, love about this restaurant is that although meals are served luxuriously, prices remain reasonable. Thus, you get value for your money; because aside from dining at restaurant with a good ambiance, you also get delectable dishes and prompt service.

Via Mare is a seafood restaurant in the Philippines that our family holds dear because several birthdays and graduation blow-outs have been held by our family in this restaurant. What we love about this restaurant is that their place and menu is fit for any occasions so it is not embarrassing to invite guests and celebrate parties in their restaurant. Their menu is also suitable for any time of the day, whether you’re having breakfast, lunch, dinner, or light snacks.

What I love about this restaurant is that this is one of the very few restaurants who serve Filipino delicacies or kakanin such as puto bumbong, palitaw, bibingka and puto maya. Their grilled pandesal is also perfect for breakfast or for any merienda and it also comes with different fillings such as Laguna Cheese, Queso de Bola, Corned Beef, and Crispy Vigan Longanisa. As one of the premiere seafood restaurant in the Philippines, the highlight of their menu, of course, is their seafood which is cooked to a variety of dishes.

Their Tiyan ng Bangus na Sinigang sa Miso is a perfect dish to kick-start the meal because the flavors of the soup is just right.  There are also other milkfish dishes which I really love such as Tiyan ng Bangus Asado and Rellenong Bangus. They also serve other seafood whose cooking is just divine such as their Sugpo sa Gata and Tortang Alimasag. Their Pinais na Alimasag is also a must try. It is a bluecrab which is stuffed with coconut and crab meat and slowly cooked in coconut cream.

Travel Footwear

travelrecos's avatartravelrecos

One of the most essential pieces of equipment for any trip is the right footwear.  Footwear can make all the difference between hours of tireless, trouble free walking and what can feel like hell on earth and a dramatically shortened time on the road with a dash of rushed and unexpected shoe shopping.  Some of the best recos I can give is to get a good pair of shoes.  Heck, I have enough shoes to shod an army but I can count with one hand those that I would actually want to wear for more than three hours.

My shoe recos:

1) Don’t use a trip to break in a new pair of shoes

2) Use closed shoes

3) Have shoes with support

4) Have two pairs (at least)

5) Choose appropriate shoes for your trip

Let me explain:

Don’t use a trip to break in a new pair of…
